Hose Colour: Opinions please
The occasion is a baptism, I am to be the Godfather. Going kilted in Scott Green Ancient, with a charcoal Crail jacket and my Craigie Silver Fox sporran (actual one pictured on website!!). I'll most likely be wearing an ancient green (solid) tie and no vest. Shirt will probably be determined by the hose colour.
I'm thinking about charcoal colored hose and whether they'll work with the ancient green kilt? Specifically I wonder if charcoal hose along with the charcoal jacket will contrast with the the ancient colouring in an unflattering way. On the other hand it could turn out looking very sharp. I thought the matching flashes would pop out of the charcoal well and perhaps help balance things well. But I just don't know. Opinions? (I don't have a pair of charcoal hose so it's not as easy as standing in front the mirror.)
Appreciate your help mates.

Charcoal hose would go with the jacket you mentioned. I personally might opt for oatmeal though. But I'd have to see it in the mirror.
BTW congrats on being selected godfather.

First off, and mor eimportantly I think, if you are wearing the jacket and tie go for the white dress shirt. Mayching the shirt to the hose is more of a casual rule in my opinion. Dressy should almost always be a white dress shirt.
I think the charcoal hose would look good, mind you I wear charcoal hose and a charcoal coat or vest with my Ancient Watson all the time (look in my album listed in my signature). You may also consider Lovat green hose as they may match the tartan and the tie very well. The flashes will still pop, but will be a bit more subtle with the lovat.
Just my opinion.

I think that the Charcoal hose would probably look quite good.

Maybe try lovatt green kilt hose, but you'd have to check the colour against the ancient green of the kilt.
The Kilt is my delight !

How about a pair of charcoal Lewis kilt hose (to match the jacket) and a pair of garters in ancient green (either loden green or lovat green depending on what best matching the green in your kilt). This will look sharp against the dark charcoal and tie in the tie and kilt colors.

I think oatmeal will look fine, but I always associate this color with casual wear, and I think the occasion demands a more distinguished look.
Green or blue hose also wouldn't look bad, in a color to tone with the tartan. If you plan on wearing a green tie, I'd stay with the green.
However, given the charcoal jacket, I really think the charcoal hose will look sharp!

I think as it should be a fairly dressy occasion, that the charcol hose would work well with the rest of your outfit.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I need to expand the range of my hose colour options anyway, I'll probably pick up a pair of lovat green and charcoal and see which seems to work best.
BTW, love the site and look forward to becoming part of the community

My choice would be Lovat Green hose with a white shirt and your Ancient (lovat ?) Green tie. This color combination would look great with your kilt. The flashes could mirror one of the minor or stipe colors in the kilt.
By the way,
