Which hose should I get next?

I have a few pair already.

Background is my Clan monochrome, modern green and modern red.

Foreground is existing hose and flashes collection, claret hose, yellow flashes, ancient blue and khaki hose, bright red flashes, lovat blue, charcoal and bottle green hose, subdued blue flashes.

So I have a birthday coming up. I am content with my life, and it took a bit to get here. I don't really "want" anything - but I wouldn't mind some new colors of hose.

So I really like three or four colors at House of Cheviot. In the Rannoch line:

I really like the rose pink, the mustard and the purple.

I like the purple of "thistle" in the Skye line even better than the rannoch purple.

http://www.houseofcheviot.com/our-catalogue/mens/skye/ , but really three ply cashmere socks is a non-starter.

That brings me to the mustard and the rose pink in the rannoch line.

So my wife called the STM today. They don't have the rose pink in stock of course, and it has been dropped from the men's line. Ronin thought he might could order a pair of rose pink hose from the lady's rannoch line that would fit my feet, with no one the wiser.

Seen a lot of threads go by suggesting pink kilt hose. I think I can pull it off. I don't see any pictures on here of other people wearing pink kilt hose.

Should I go with the mustard? I kind of like the purple of the Sandringham hose named "heather" too...

That part of the House of Cheviot's web site needs updating, I am afraid, as there are some colors shown which are no longer available. I'm in the process now of updating the Rannoch colors for the US Distribution site (www.scottishkilthose.com) and then hopefully individual retailers will have their own sites updated.

But, FYI, here are the current color offerings in men's Rannoch hose from House of Cheviot's 2012 catalog.

Cinnamon has been my unspoken fourth choice for a while now. Thanks for the nomination Jock.

I too like the cinnamon color hose. If you are considering purple, let me say that I find the bilberry color that house of cheviot offers very attractive. I also like the Saint Andrews blue seen in Matts post, I have a pair of garter ties from the STM in that hue, and i quite enjoy them. I have, as of late been very attracted to the mustard colored bowmore hose from house of cheviot, as well as the chessboard tops. I think you want solid hose, but always something to consider. Happy early birthday mate, enjoy whatever hose you get! cheers, Nick Pratt
