How to remove the pleat-stich on a new kilt

this was part of another post I had. I'm extracting the pertinent parts and posting for those who need the info!

Please move to the care and maintenance sub-section.

as with any fine wine, you need to let the kilt breath for a few minutes. Let it get used to freedom before you put it on for the first time.

You can either set it out as I did, or hang it for a little bit. This step really isn't necessary, but it does help you identify any pleats that have been crumpled in transit, or (heavan forbid) inferior sewing or misaligned setts!!

Once all of that is done, put on the kilt and enjoy!
