Imperial Highland Supplies... dealt with them?

    Hello all!

I was wondering if any here have had dealings with Imperial Highland Supplies.

    http://www.imperialhighlandsupplies.com/

I have been looking for a decent inexpensive Sherrifmuir Doublet, and ran across this outfitter. While their site looks alright, I have never heard mention of them before, and some of their prices seem too good to be true (i.e. £90 for the Sherrifmuir below).

    http://imperialhighlandsupplies.com/...roducts_id=363

I cannot find any info on where they are based from, but I have no problems with non-Scottish (Pakistani or otherwise) companies if their products are made well enough. My concern is if they will actually deliver...

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Brad

I don't know anything about them, but if you do decide to get that Sheriffmuir, make sure you watch out for their returns policy and delivery date. Some of us have lost money dealing with less-than-honest cut-rate suppliers.
But, if it all works out for the good, make sure to tell us all. I'd like a 90-pound Sheriffmuir, too!

edited: I Googled them and alibaba.com lists them as a Pakistani company.

It's an interesting site. I haven't dealt with them but I can say that they are selling items retail way below normal trade cost price

That suggests, very strongly, that these are cheap Asian imports. Edinburgh is awash right now with all manner of highland goods imported from Pakistan

That doesn't necessarily mean the items are no good, but it does suggest that you be wary

I'll be interested to hear how you get on if you decide to buy from them

    A couple of thoughts.

They are offering "Heritage of Scotland" tartan, which I believe is the house tartan of Gold Brothers group of shops.

    They ship through Dubai -

The rate charged for the shipping/delivery of your order is based on the weight and or, size of your product(s), handling/packaging and your location. You can view/select your shipping/delivery charge in the "view basket" section of the website. Being a corporate client to DHL we ship most of our orders through DHL Courier Service via Dubai, offering concessionary rates to our clients worldwide. Off this tracking number is provided after two days of dispatch through Dubai premises of DHL, We also use DEPEX and Cargo by SEA, by Air Mail on customer’s request. We also offer FOB if you have an DHL import account you can select the carrier FOB during the orders checkout process, we will arrive the package to DHL office free of cost for you NO CHARGES.
This leads me to believe that they are in fact based in Pakistan.

That is not to say that they are selling bad quality. I am considering a Regulation Doublet.

    Regards

    Chas

Please take into account this-90% of the pics are stolen from other web sites. The carrot is dangling thats making you bypass obvious red flags.

Here's a test. Email them and ask which pipe band they have scrolling on every page. Google the band's name and ask if this company is their supplier and if they have any feedback. If the band has never heard of them or they dont know where they got the pic or they say they "borrowed" the pic, I would say they aren't honest enough to do business with. People who steal pictures to represent their own products must have poor quality products (why else wouldnt they want you to see what you're buying?). Quality pictures aren't difficult to take.

I thought that was such a good idea that I did a little investigating and found that the picture was taken on Stage Rd. in Pescadero, California. The band is the Stewart Tartan Pipes and Drums of San Francisco.

Yup: not the Sheriffmuir, but some of the other pix are familiar. (Balmoral, Highland Clans Web site).

Happily, at this time they have not tried to sell us Sandy's tartan doublet.

I would think they are a reputable company. As to quality of goods, I do not know but probably a lot better than we want to admit.

    But...
