Isle of Skye Casual?
I'm searching around looking for an Isle of Skye, but can't afford to get a tank out of it. Any recommendations? Any of you can't fit in yours anymore?

There's a six-yarder here that's gotten good reviews:

Have you considered having Matt Newsome make a box pleat? See http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/...%20pleated.htm . Or have Rocky at USA Kilts make one. The fabric is available from Marton Mills.

It's about to be readily available in PV in a few months (as a stock tartan). HOWEVER, Pete (AKA MacHummel AKA Canadian Casual Kilts) already has the fabric in hand. Try his kilts if you're looking for something now.

you can get a full 8 yard machine sewn traditional tank from Scottishkilts dot net for well under $300.

Alot of info here. Anyone other than FM familiar with Scottishkilts.net? I would love one of Matt's, but again, trying not to break the bank, again!

There have been other threads on the forum about scottishkilts and their sister site tartanweb. For the most part everybody had the same experience with them---easy ordering, good quality product delivered in a timely fashion, generally no major problems, but poor availability for service if you do have a problem.
if you do decide to order from them use the scottishkilts site and go to the 8yd standard kilts page, then the top left choice should be their tartan day special where the IoS is the special price.
The woolenmills 6 yard deal is also tempting and a little bit cheaper, but more restricted in available sizes, especially for us large bodies.

I've got a 6 yard Isle of Sky from Wollenmill as was posted above, and i love it. It's wonderfully made, and I happen to be of just the right size that a "off the shelf" size kilt fits me perfectly as if tailored to my dimensions.
