which jacket for a wedding
I have been asked to accompany a lady friend at a wedding at the end of month. Should I wear my black barathea or my charcoal tweed?
Im not sure which kilt Ill wear, my charcoal tweed or MacLean Hunting.

My vote is charcoal tweed and MacLean Hunting. You don't want to "out-bling" the happy couple, and keeping it traditional (the tartan kilt) will make for a more subdued look.
Cheers,
Cameron

I assume the wedding is during the day? If so, I would wear the tweed, unless the invitation specifically called for formal attire. If the dress code was formal daywear (aka morning dress) then I would wear my black barathea Argyll.

Craig,
It all depends on the level of formality of the wedding. A beach wedding this time of year and you would not wear a jacket at all.
An informal church wedding held in the afternoon where everyone else will wear jacket and tie you would wear your Tweed.
Did the invitation specify a dress code? Can you ask a member of the wedding party, or better yet the bride.
Are you a part of the wedding party or a guest?
The best advice is to dress appropriately to the event. Don't overdress and don't underdress. But you have to know what that is.

I wear the kilt because: Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

I agree with what Steve said. Unless the one that asked you is the bride and you are walking her down the aisle, I would go with the tweed and MacLean Hunting. The charcoal on charcoal may be too much grey.

I do think that you need to match the formality of the event. If this is a daytime wedding I would wear the charcoal tweed with the MacLean Hunting tartan. Take a look at the 1 kilt 10 looks, any of my looks from 6-8 are what I mean. Again finding out the formality of the wedding would be the first step.

I did find out that its a afternoon wedding with dinner in evening. The tweed will fit here.
Depend on the level of formality I can adjust the jacket/vest combo.
I am not worried about out blinging the bride. She knows Im a kiltie & there will be pipers.
Determining formally of dress is kind of hard here. Dressing up for most is black jeans, white shirt & black leather vest. Casual dress means you can wear your work clothes.

Seems you've already answered your own question, but unless it's an evening wedding I'd always vote for the charcoal. Black is only for evening/night, no matter if you're kilting or trousered.
