Kilt belt buckle to go with MOD culloden cantle
Hi Guys,
I'm not much of a fans of kilt belts: I find them to be an unnecessarily clunky burden to my outfit...
However, as spring is on its way, I can now expect to wear my kilt more often without a waistcoat and jacket. And its true that in such circumstances, a belt can complement the kilt well.
This is were I need your advice: what would you wear with a Culloden MOD cantle sporran? I reckon a brass buckle with a brownish belt would do the trick. Any examples of suitable buckles out there?
Cheers,
Alisdair

Something like a Sam Browne always looks good.

The actual wait belt in the Sam Browne is not bad... I think I'd drop the cross piece (or whatever the belt across the chest is called).

Yes, unless you're going to wear a sword then the cross belt is not really necessary. The waist belt on the other hand, looks good with a kilt.

I love it! Simple and elegant! Can I ask where you got it?

Steve Frazier (aka cavscout), a former member here, made it for me several years ago when he had a venture called Oconee Leatherworks. I had him make the pictured brown/brass belt and a matching strap, and a black/nickel belt with a matching strap.
Unfortunately, he's no longer making the belts and hasn't logged on to the forum in a few years. He did excellent work.
But I'll bet you could have someone make you something similar (or if you're handy, perhaps you could make one yourself).
Looking forward to seeing what you end up with.

Nice tie there Shaun, it looks very much like the Gurkha Brigade tie, to my tired old eye.

Your "tired old eye" is very keen, Jock! That's exactly what it is.
I was looking for something green, red and black. I wouldn't wear it on your side of the pond, but you're the only person who's snapped to the regiment!
