kilt for son
My younger son will be sixteen this year and I was thinking about getting him a kilt for his birthday in May.
I was thinking about getting him a Buzz Kidder canvas kilt so that he could wear it as much as possible and not cause much damage. He is quite
active and I don't want to worry about him wearing an expensive kilt.
But I am not to sure about Buzz's product. He also likes the Stillwater Black Stuart. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

If, by chance, your son is into punk or gothic check out the Utilikilt Black Workman's...all the metal has a very cool look to it for teens.
You might also save some bucks over time by looking at what Jeff has at Pittsburgh kilts with the ability to adjust the waist size a bit. Perhaps something as unique as a Pittsburgh Kilt in two tone - his high school colors. Fancy that at a game

I love my new stillwater black stewart kilt. Ordered on thursday from stock, arrived Tuesday. Wore it out for St. Pats. (pix in philly kilt night gallery / xmarks meetings gallery.) Plan to get the pleats stitched down, but will wear it until then, too. I also have a USAK (also a fantastic kilt!) and 2 SK (wish I had known about USAK and SWK before i found them). A great starter kilt with nice pleats. I got the USAK because I had serious pleat envy! Next a bearkilt, base on the opinions of pretty much everyone here. I'll never save enough for a TANK. I have SK's for my sons, but they are 4 and 6, so if they are still interesed when they are 8, it will be SWK's or USAKs.
And you may ask yourself, Well how did I get here?

I would seriously talk to Bear about the lead-time on a kid's kilt before you do anything else.
Stillwater's MIGHT be too long for him. SportKilts just aren't what you want. A good solid kilt from PittsburghKilts is a nice choice too.

kilt for son
Thanks for the advice. My son is not into the goth thing thank goodness He is like me ,70's rock, celtic rock, blues and traditional celticmusic.
He plays drums, guitar and trumpet. I think the PK with the school colours in red and white would look sharp with a black kilt. as for the length, my son stands 6'3" barefoot! He had a sprotskilt that he bought with his own money but now it is a mini kilt

Red and white you say? I'm toying with the idea of a red and white PK myself (or a green and white).

Jeff does tri-color kilts too. I've considered the same combination since the local high school colors here are black, red, and white.
If you haven't seen his tri-color work check my gallery or the PK gallery.
He can even do the "sporran" in two tone, like black with a red stripe or vice versa.
I really think there's a waiting kilt market for school color kilts for high schools and universities.
