    Kilt strap extenders

Are they frowned upon? I have gained a few inches and my old kilt doesn't fit right now, but I'm determined to eventually work off the weight... so I am going with kilt strap extenders as an interim thing.

Any opinions? Is there a 'proper' way to wear them?

The proper way is to wear them with your kilt at the correct location as to waist!

I have a pair that keep a very expensive kilt from being useless, and several of us have used them.

Go for it, both with the extenders and the weight loss.

I bought a set from Rocky, ended up needing only one, and hope to lose the rest of the inches to not need the other in the near future

Have used them...to keep an outgrown kilt in action.

BE SURE to get the correct width - they are offered in various widths.

They embarrass me since there's extra metal and its obvious to even a non-kiltie what I've done so I like to wear them with a long sweater that covers them up.

The ideal, obviously, is to lose weight to fit in your kilt! However, that takes time, and if that can't be done, then the second best option is to have the kilt altered to fit your new size. However, that also takes time (and money) and if you can't afford either of those two things or if, like you, you are determined to lose the weight and don't want to alter your kilt twice, the strap extenders are a good alternative.

That's pretty much what they are intended for -- a temporary measure to use either while you are losing weight, or if you don't have time to get your kilt altered before you need to wear it.

We sell them here at the STM shop:
