Kilt Wearing Holiday Calendar
For the last several weeks I have been doing alot of online research on tartans, kilts, and the like. Last week I found a calendar that had a listing of holidays that the kilt could be worn on. Now, I have searched and searched and can no longer find it. Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Have you searched through the Search History on your Google machine?

kiltday had a list of the days - saints days and others. I think it disappeared with them and it is up to us to re-create it. Think Scottish holy days, holidays, anniversaries. Of course there is St Andrew's day, (30 November), Battle of Culloden, (16 April), St Patrick, (17 March), St Columba, and our own Tartan day, (6 April). Check this out: http://www.albanach.org/scotsaints.html. When the boss says what gives this time you can just direct her to the site and indicate it is St. Maelrubha's day, (22 August), and tell her that your faith dictates that you be pantless on that date as a form of recognition.

Don't tell me you didn't know about St Maelrubha! Of Ross. Martyred by vikings. This is the stuff of legends. Got to get home to hearth and hose. Honey light the fire and get out my kilt!

There was a thread started by Pour1Malt a couple of years back that had a pretty comprehensive list - holidays, saints' days, important dates in Scottish history, birthdays of famous Scots, the day Hamish stopped wearing pants - try searching for it.

Calendar? We don't need no stinking calendar. We wear the Kilt everyday. For us Everyday in a Kilt is a holiday.
