    Question kilted nation or stillwater?

i am going to buy a new kilt, but i was wandering if anyone has any knowledge of how thick a 8 yard casual p/v kilt from the kilted nation woul be? OR if i should just listen to everyone on this forum and order a swk heavyweight? This is going to be my winter kilt for my first upcomming "kilted-winter". ant advice would be great. thanx

Oh! Get a WPG kilt for the winter! Those'll keep you warm.

Personally if I were going for PV I would go with Rocky or Pete as I know them better and I know the quality of their work and the material they use. I am not very familiar with the Kilted Nations stuff. an 8 yard PV kilt is great, but as for a winter kilt I would think it would depend on what your winters are like. We have a very rainy moderate winter with limited cold, cold days and snow and I have worn a 4 yard PV kilt and an 8 yard PV kilt in -16 C and it's alright. If you you want warm go with the Stillwater. Their service level and record is tried and true and you know what you get from Jerry.

I've had really good luck with my SWK wool kilts. Just bought two more (I've lost weight and I had to replace the larger ones. I know that Baltimore can get a little nippy, so I'd recommend Stillwater.

You know that KN is in Manassas VA. You could make the trip and see one in person. Also they are scheduled to be at the Virginia Highland Games this weekend. No closer to you, but plenty of other things to see that way.

I'm sure they're both just super kilts.

Don't know much about "winter" kilts (since I just recently started wearing kilts so I've yet to have a kilted winter) , but I got my UK standard from TKN and my Irish Nat'l standard from SWK and the service from both shops was stellar.
