kilted (skirted?) daughter....
My little girl wants a kilt. I assume I am looking for a kilted skirt.. but is it a faux pas to get her a youth kilt with a belt and sporran?
I was just wondering... Granted, female pipers wear the same as male pipers but I just wanted to see what the consensus is.

Given that little girls can get away with nearly anything, I think, if it were me, I would just buy the kilted skirt.

It would help to know the age of your daughter.
My general recommendation is a youth kilt with a girlie-type belt and no sporran.

Having been a little girl in my formative years, I would get the kid what ever she wants. She'll outgrow it soon enough. If she wants to dress like her piper daddy, she just might head in that direction. There is always room for another piper in this world.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

ebay is a good source for young girls' kilted skirts. the quality may be varying, but considering the age group and the rigorous wear they will get, it's a good starting point. both of my daughters have a handful of cheaply aqcuired kilted skirts from thrift shops and ebay and love them. there are some steals out there, too.

Already been discussed...looking to get a chanter too! haha and she DOES get anything she wants. She's my one and only (at least with THIS wife... ) and brings such joy to my world...
plus.. we share so many similiarities it's scary... music being the biggest.

I would nix the sporran if I were getting it for my daughter, IMHO it looks a little too masculine. Or you could get her one and have her wear it over her shoulder like a purse That would be cute.

I'd say get a youth kilt or skirt---whatever fits and can provide some room for growth.
A youth or economy sporran could be worn as a sporran or carried as a purse, with appropriate strap(s). For instance, if the strap attaches to D-rings, just pick it up doubled, & it's a purse handle.

I have a 4 year old Granddaughter that wanted a kilt at the Wisconsin Highland Games. I got her a Kilt and sporran (no belt) and she spent the day telling everyone, strangers included, that she had a kilt just like her Garndpa. Now she is very much into all things Scottish.
