Maple Leaf Tartan Kilt Help!

G'day all!

I am currently in the market for a new kilt! Maple Leaf tartan to be exact!
I know I can buy an "off the rack" kilt from Freedom Kilts in BC, or I can have one ordered from USA Kilts. But a sample thumbnail pictures of material is only so good.

Does anybody have a maple leaf tartan kilt they bought from either location with a picture?
I've seen this tartan go towards more orange or even more green to a really washed out red.
It's hard to make up my mind as to where to order from unless I can see the kilt, ya know?

Any help is muchly appreciated!

I have a Maple Leaf tartan kilt done in the rare box pleats by USA kilts. It is wonderful. I know they just experimented with the box pleats for a bit so you will likely get knife pleating. The fabric is gorgeous and Ive always been complimented on it.

front. the red is a bit much due to the photo not the tartan. It is actually a beautiful blend of colours.

Here is a photo of a wool Maple Leaf purchased from USA.

However, the appearance of the tartan will vary slightly from mill to mill, whether it is modern or weathered, as well as the type of fabric. Many vendors can supply you with samples.

There is a shop in downtown Halifax that might have the ML tartan (I've forgot the name), and also Mac Kilts in St Peters

Any kilt maker can source the ML tartan to make a kilt for you. My brother has had Kilts made from MacIsaac in Cape Breton and speaks well of them.
The Maple Leaf tartan is great looking, and a source of pride to wear for all Canadians.

Maple Leaf tartan really does come in different shades and different sett sizes. This is more about the mill than the kiltmaker. Most kilt makers can order from different mills and can order you a sample if you wish. All it takes is time.

This kilt was made by John Hart in Lochcarron Strome:

As you can see, the colours are more muted. There are "brighter" versions of the tartan.

Hey Pit Rat. I do believe Taskr is right that there should be a shop in Halifax that might be able to help you. I seem to recall that when I was looking for a source for the tartan, I found a link to a shop in Halifax.

Regarding Freedom Kilt's Maple Leaf tartan, I happen to know that Steve uses 16 oz Lochcarron because he sourced some for me for Kilt Kamp last summer. If you scroll through the photos from last year, you will see my tartan.
