modern kilt with adjustable waist?
Can anyone suggest an internet order modern kilt with an adjustable waist under $100? They can be found without an adjustable waist. But I bounce around in weight a lot (34-36 usually). I need something that isn't fixed and locked in like most modern kilts are. I'd prefer buckles on the straps, but snaps are ok too.

Talk to Steve at Freedom Kilts (see the advert at the top of he page). He's also the owner of this forum and modern is what he does most happily. Take a look a his company website.

depends on how you define modern
UT Kilts makes an adjustable (expanding waist) utility kilt. This it my idea of a modern kilt.
If you are meaning a tartan kilt with such a device, I believe the suggestion above to speak with Steve is sound advice indeed.

They have a bit of elastic in the waist. I was talking more like a modern - utili-kilt like that is adjustable with straps kind of like this.
I like utilikilts, I don't like that 90% of them have a fixed - non-adjustable waist.

I believe it is possible to have a second buckle installed behind or in grond of oyur regular one. This might work.
Mos kilts with straps are made to have about 2 inches either side of the center hole. Is this not enough to work? your original post mentioned a rather small shift in size. I range from 38 - 42 which is way too for the straps to accommodate. (makes me pay attention to my diet more.)

I do like the one you showed in your picture. Who makes that one?
I wonder if a local seamstress vor leather worker could make the mods for you if you have a kilt that is otherwise serviceable.

That's what I'm saying man. Most modern kilts do not adjust "at all". Like this modern kilt from UT Kilts. The buckles are just for show. The snaps on the waist are what fastens the kilt around your waist. And there is only that one position. So what you have is what you get, and you do not get to adjust the waist.
I hadn't thought about having it altered to have straps. I think it would look weird with all the snaps. Especially if you were wearing it to looser than is was meant to. But It might work.
Leprichan - the kilt I used as an example is would on things celtic. But it is pick up only. In Austin, TX.
Father Bill - I did not see your post. Thanks, I'll check that out.
Sadly, freedom kilt's website is down.

I have no idea what they are like but UTkilts do have Velcro waist kilts in their "expandable Scottish kilt" line.
you could also check out Sport Kilt.
