Need /Want name help
OK guys (and gals),
I am making a formal kilt/balmoral making company.
(and I WILL be an X Marks sponsor, as soon as I get up and running)
I will/am making box pleat kilts (hand sewn and machine), mostly in wools. I also make hand (and will be some machined too) sewn balmorals in custom color combinations and sizes. I am also hoping to carry a number of unusual/unique items made my some contacts (and hopefully some X Markers I have already talked to). That is as far as I will go, as I am NOT intending this thread as selling anything. I am planning to have this as a side job.
What I need to get a business lisence is a name.
I WAS going to do: "MacWage Kilts & Kit"
Then came up with: "Kudzu Kilts"
(ABSOLUTELY NO "& Kit", as to avoid the dreaded triple K)
Also: Wages Kilts (& Kit->?)
(From my ACTUAL last name)
What do YA'LL think?
Anything better?
(Mods, I am begging leniency on this thread. As SOON as I have a website running and something to really sell, I'll become a sponsor.)

I'd go with the first one.
From a marketing standpoint, Kudzu does't sound like anything I would expect to hear in relationship to a kilt.

Now I'd go just the opposite. Kudzu Kilts is both allerative, and descriptive (i.e. a southern kilt maker).

Carolina Kilts & Kit also rolls off the tongue well.

Kudzu is an invasive non-native weed that was introduced to the south to control erosion in the 1930s or 40s. It's damned near impossible to destroy or control. It's taken over huge portions of the south and is quickly working its way north, killing all native plant species in its path and destroying habitat for native wildlife. It's NOT a positive thing.
As such, I'd NEVER use "Kudzu" for anything commercial (other than "Kudzu Removal").
I like Carolina Kilts & Kit.
Tarheel Tartans (if you were in North Carolina)

Wonder if Dreadbelly can weave it into some form of hemp substitute? A thought - what about dropping the s from kilts to read "Kilt & Kit"?

I've lived in your part of the country, too - but the kudzu is truly nasty stuff... in prime conditions it can grow more than a foot in length in a day. It gets up into trees and essentially chokes them to death. Not pleasant when it wraps up your house, either.
About the only way to begin to control it is with a combination of super herbicides and mechanical action (cutting, burning, and digging). Even that's not foolproof.

PA and MD have something similar called Mile-a-minute vine. And yes, it grows really, really fast.
