    Ok to wear a hoodie?

It is kinda chilly down here and I am curious on if it is "taboo" to wear a hoodie with a kilt? I have 2 sport kilts black watch and stewart black tartans. I always tuck in with tshirts, polo shirts, and pretty much any shirts. However, can not really do that with a hoodie. If it is a huge taboo I could always get a sweater I can tuck in.

I wear pretty much whatever I want! Although some might disagree, just remember YOU are wearing it. As long as you think you look good, than it is fine!

    Thumbs up

For casual wear sure, it's not that much different than a pullover sweater.

Well I'd say go ahead, I would not wear a hoodie myself with a Traditional Kilt. However with a sport kilt I'd say it's OK, I wonder though if it's chilly does a Sport Kilt really give you any warmth at all? As for tucking in a sweater I'd say a sweater unless it is very thin should not be tucked in.

When I say chilly I mean starts at like 30 in the morning and works up to about 50 in the afternoon. In that weather a sport kilt is fine if I am not going to spend a lot of time outside. However, that is about the limit of cold I can take.

Okay, you guys have essentially confirmed what I thought. As you guys can tell I am new to the whole kilt wearing only been wearing sense may 2008. As for sweaters even they should not be tucked in? I assumed that unless they have pockets on the front you pretty much tucked it in. Which most hoodies have pockets on the front.

I wear one with a kilt all the time, both casuals and tartans. I should say that this is strictly casual and work attire for me. Anything else gets a sweater. As they say, remember YOU are wearing it. As long as you think you look good, than it is fine!

I generally consider a hoodie under the classification of outerwear. I will pull one one to go out and shovel snow. When it warms up to 20 F. the Sport Kilt is fine for outdoor activity. I say go for it. i wear the hoodie for the work and remove it when indoors, so it is like a jacket with a built in flat cap.

I'd say even sweaters without pockets if they are bulky should not be tucked in.

    As an example

An Arran sweater would not fit under a kilt.

^ ah I see what you mean. A sweater that thick wouldn't fit. Luckily though down here we never get snow and cold temperatures like that. lol I do not have any sweater like that and have no use for one.

I have thrown on a hoodie with a kilt before but I never looked at my self in a mirror to see what it looked like.
