    pleating new kilt

I have fabric coming for a new kilt and I'm considering pleating to the stripe on this one. This is the fabric, http://www.bestfabric.com/cgi-bin/sh.../SID=646920039

If I pleat to the stripe it would be to the red of course. Any opinions on the idea? Or would it look better to the sett. I'm seriously split on this one.

I like pleating to the stripe (line) anyway. It looks like it should work out fine. Suggestion - If you have Corel or Jasc or Adobe photo... you can copy paste sections of the tartan together in the computer to get a better idea of what it will look like... a bit of virtual pleating if you will. BTW, I noticed that the horizontal lines of the fabric are quite diminished. What tartan is it?

It's really no particular tartan, more of a fabric store knock-off of a Black Watch. It's decent fabric though, a nice medium weight twill.

Hmmm. Thinking it over, maybe I should just call it MacBubba Hunting.

I agree with Blu as far as going down the stripe and I also think that MacBuuba hunting would make a classy name for the tartan

That's a fine looking tartan bubba. It should make a great Macbubba Hunting. Make sure you post some pics of the finished product.

My favourite tartan name is one Hamish came up with. He needed a reply to people asking the the tartan of his black kilt.
He calls it his MacAbre tartan.

That's brilliant I'm so glad I've got a black kilt.
But I'd like a Gunn kilt too, so why are you wasting time posting when you could be stitching, back to the sweat shop and get working.
Forget it have a cold one and a whisky chaser, that's what I'm doing (only it's vodka). 8)

That's a good one. I'll have to remember that for when I make a black one

    Rhino,
I'm letting my finger heal for a few minutes. I was pushing it through too many layers while basting pleats and the eye end of the needle punctured me.
    Twice.
    In exactly the same spot.
    (eek!)

Whiskey, huh? Well, maybe just for medicinal purposes.
