Reason not to wear a kilt - tounge in cheek
In another threat a Xmarkers was told by co-workers not to wear a kilt to a school reunion. The OP asked if we could think of reasons not to wear a kilt to a function. Surprisingly, For some reason no one came up with any reasons not to wear a kilt.
So I propose a tongue in cheek approach to the question "what are reason not to wear a kilt to a group gathering."
- Your legs are better than your wife's and she will be jealous.
- You will be the best looking person in the room and you don't want the class' "beautiful people" to be out-shined.
- You will be dancing on a glass floor and there is a room below you.
- You will be wearing your loud Macleod tartan and don't want to hurt the eyes of the drunks at the bar.

I'm the OP of that other thread and I love your reasons #3 & 4. In my original thread it was suggested my Sailotats that if the event were being held at a nudist colony, the kilt probably would be inapropriate.

If the event is held in a venue with an overabundance of floor vents/registers blasting air upwards, the kilt would be a bad idea.

Oh, I don't know about that. Seemed to work for Marilyn Monroe...

True, I don't look like Marilyn Monroe however, nor do most of our members (not a pun.... well maybe).

Diving - Sky or Scuba - both sound like a bad idea to wear a kilt.

Oddly, I came across a thread on a naturist forum the other day in which the benefits of wearing kilts was being argued. I could not agree more!

Im not sure a kilt is appropriate garb for rock climbing. Might get a bit pulled under by a harness. Might show more than you wish to your belay person below. My Elkommando on the other hand is comfortable for approach hikes to glaciers and such hiking.

Could you wear the Emperor's new kilt or one made of clear plastic (or would this stick when you sat down)?
