Safron, Saffron, Saphron.
Okay, I am looking to get a saffron kilt for my wedding. I was planing on a SWK shadow tartan, though he is out of stock at the moment. My Problem is I looked at USA-kilts saffron and thought "Why not?" THis is a kilt I will wear for many years. But I noticed, from USA, to SWK, to scotweb, all the saffron kilts look a different color then the other? SO who has the real saffron? Which saffron looks best? Or is it they just photogragh bad and all look different?

I don't think there is one definitive saffron kilt. I have the one from SKW (and their fly plaid and Irish brooch, which is great) but you really can't go wrong with USA Kilts.

Just like anything else with dyes and weaving, one person's colour might be different from another. Throw in different cameras, different lighting, and different computer monitors and who knows what you'll wind up seeing.
Any way you can get swatches from the companies you're interested in and see which you like better? Probably be the best way to get what you want.
I have saffron flashes from SWK. They're kind of a dark mustard / schoolbus yellow.

Yes, as stated above; if you're seriously worried about the particular hue of the saffron, get swatches. Then you'll be able to compare and choose the best of them for your kilt.

Well, if its value you want go with the USA Kilts saffron semi-trad in polyviscose.
Don't know where on the planet you are but here you can compare the color to Navajo sandstone and river water blue...and black.

Saffron
Remember, saffron was originally a vegetable dye, so the colors would vary considerably from one batch to the next even with the same spinner/weaver. The differences from one producer to another would be just as great. So there is not "true" saffron. Get the one you like.

Saffron looks great on thin lads. Tartan helps hide the weight.

I would second that. If I were to wear saffron I am afraid I would look like the back of a large jar of French's mustard with arms and legs from a distance.

Ron- you're a pain my wallet, man. Now I need to get one of those... More money... I think I agree with Ron here, but I have to say- i love my SWK shadow tartan saffron.
