    Which Sporran?

    Rabble,

A sporran formality question. I am attending a wedding soon. The ceremony is at 5. I will be kilted with a grey tweed jacket,

Which sporran to wear? My choices are plain brown leather day, plain black leather day and chinchilla fur evening sporran.

    Your opinions are appreciated.

It all depends on the formality of the event and what others will be wearing. I am assuming you are a guest and as you are wearing a tweed I would wear on of the leather day sporrans. If it were me I would wear the brown leather but that all comes down to personal taste, the Black would be just as appropriate.

    Here would be my choices:
If I am participating in the wedding (usher, best man) I would wear the fur sporran and black shoes.

If I am a guest of the groom (but not in the ceremony) the brown sporran and brown shoes.

If I am a guest of the bride (not in the ceremony) the black sporran and black shoes.

My list is to honor the bride and her family as much as bring attention to the couple without distracting from "their day of joining".

Grooms wear black, brides wear white.... I'd go with skunk, and incorporate both colors. You can wear mine if you would like!

As McMurdo suggests it depends on the formality of the occasion.Given the info you have provided I'd likely go with the black....

    Thanks all.

I am just a guest at the wedding. A long time friend of the family. It's not a very formal event. The wedding party will likely be in tuxes. Most gentleman guests will be in jackets/ties.

I think I knew the fur sporran would be out of place given my place as a guest and the overall formality. And either choice of leathers would really work. I actually just laid out my whole ensemble and looked at it with both sporrans.

Can't decide. Maybe I will bring both sporrans and decide when I get there.

    Belay that.

Tie breaker! My brown sporran strap is in better shape than my black sporran strap. Dilemma solved. Brown it is.
