Stillwater Kilts
Even though I've had my kilt a while now time I am fairly new to kilt wearing because I haven't gotten the chance to wear my kilt that often. One of the reasons it doesn't get worn that often is because I only have one kilt and I like to keep it for nicer ocasions. I would get more but I really don't have enpugh money to do that. I was looking at the swk website and there prices are unbelievably cheap. Beacuse they are so much cheaper than other places I was wondering if it was one of those to good to be true things. I was hoping the members of the xmarks community who have purchased kilts from there before could tell me about there experiences with stillwater. I would like informatoin about all three different kilts that the sell. If I do end up getting one it will probably be the Black Stuart standard kilt. I really like the tartan.

I am currently ordering their black Shadow Tartan. This will be my first kilt but I have been researching Stillwater Kilts on this forum for some months. All references to SWK have been absolutly positive. I figure with so many members there must be many that know a quality kilt. I'm in the same boat needing excuses when to wear one. I wil most likely use mine just trudging through the forests with my kids.

Stillwater kilt
I started out purchasing an Amerikilt in Olive, which I wear on occasion. Then, since my wife considers that the price of kilts is far, far overboard compared to women's clothes, I purchased a solid black SWK Economy. It arrived and WOW! It ha, for the price of $44 , three metal buckles and leather straps, belt loops, nice narrow pleating, and looks and feel superb. I will be wearing it to Church and have already worn it to a Church function and was complimented by many attendees. I really wished I had learned of SWK before I bought the Amerikilt because I could have 2 SWK's for the price of 1 AK.
I am currently making my own kilt in brown corduroy as a travel kilt and consider my black SWK for dress up. My wife, who is not really into kilts at all, thinks that the black SWK is "very nice and very attractive".

A black-stewart was my first kilt and it was purchased from stillwater.. For the 80 dollars I spent, it was well worth it!

Just do a search here on "SWK" or "Stillwater Kilts" you'll find mounds of positive feedback.

Can't go wrong with a SWK, especially for the money. I prefer the standards or heavy weights, but all of them are an excellent value and well made.

I have nothing but praise to give to SWK for my kilt. It is way more than I thought it would be, being the economy kilt and all. But it was way thicker and more well constructed than I figured in my mind prior to ordering. I say go Stillwater even for your second kilt!!

I have a standard, a heavyweight, and Christmas morn will be receiving a second heavyweight from Stillwater. Jerry stocks good poducts at a reasonable price. I've bought hose, a sporran, a belt, and flashes from him as well. Everything is always a good value delivered with great customer service.
I highly recommend Stillwater.
Of all my 6 kilts, my Stillwater standard Hunting Mcleod is the one I wear most. It's comfortable, washable, and looks great.
Cheers

I own a total of 6 kilts. Three made of my own hand, and 3 from Stillwater. I have 2 Economies (one Irish National and one solid black) and a Hunting MacLeod Standard. A Black Shadow Tartan and a Saffron Shadow tartan are fairly high on my wish list as well.
I'm also working on making a few others for myself.
Anyway, Stillwater's products earn great praise from me, and Jerry's customer service is grade A and the turn around time is marvelous. When I ordered my solid black Economy, I lived in Hawaii... I had my kilt in 5 days, and NOTHING takes such a short time to get to Hawaii!
I definately recommend Stillwater Kilts. I also definately recommend learning to sew and do some of your own.

I owm 3 Stillwaters. Jerry provides a very nice product for what they are. I have a solid black economy, which I wear on a daily basis., an Irish National standard, and a heavyweight black shadow. But they aren't custom made kilts. If you are shorter than I am (just a shade under 5'10"), they will be too long. They are just over an inch longer than my custom kilt measurement (as taken by Matt at the Scottish Tartans museum), but I can get away with extra inch by wearing the Stillwaters a tad higher. If you can wear them so that the 24 inch length hits no lower than mid knee, they are a great value in an entry level kilt
