I saw some people on here got stillwater kilts. So, does anyone have their economy kilts? How good are they? Does anyone have an Economy AND a standard? What is the comparison? Let me know guys, depending on feedback is how my choice will go. -Jonathan
I only have the standard kilt (3 of them). I wanted the better quality of the standard model. Just didn't seem to save enough to select the economy kilt. However, there are a couple tartans that are in economy only. A couple of things to consider. They only come in standard length of 24" . For me, it meant I had to have them shortened to 21" Also, as Jerry says, these aren't custom kilts. There is no hip measurement. For some guys, this is not an issue. For others, it affects the hang. In my case, my hips measurement is 2" larger than my waist. I can't say that I saw any problem with the hang of the kilt. My friends thought it looked great. Hope this helps.
I bought a standard Black Watch Stillwater kilt and, sorry, but I cannot find anything good to say about it
One detail you might want to check (with any kilt purchase) is to make sure that the kiltmaker isn't selling you miniturized tartan. These tartans seem to have the right color threads in the right places but are about 1/2 scale compared to the scottish made wool kilt fabric. Kilts made with miniturized tartans just look wrong. IMHO.
These ARE the mini tartans. In my Gallery, I'm wearing the normal Irish National, and Stacey's wearing the smaller version... which I have NO problem seeing on a female. Don't confuse it with the Cape Breton Bear Kilt.
Arise. Kill. Eat.
i would also be interested in the differences. have both models the short sewing of the pleats just a few inch down from the top?
