I don't see that this kiltmaker has come up here before. Looking at what I presume to be their website, they look like one of many of the purveyors of Scottish kilts that I've seen on the internet. I'd say odds are you'd get a perfectly acceptable kilt out of the deal. You'll post a review then?

    Regards,

The website doesn't seem to have the price that you posted.
    I would ask:
What is the length of material used in the kilt?
What is the weight of the fabric?
Is it tailored to my waist, hips, and drop?

    good luck.

Sounds too cheap for it to be quality. I would be suspicious of the material and how the kilt is constructed. As Barb T. has stated many times here, it takes a skilled kilt maker about 20 hours to tailor a kilt. Considering what she charges, I would certainly be very leery of that price. And seriously wonder if it were made in Europe. More likely it will be like SWK, made in Pakistan.

My guess is that it is a casual type kilt; large pleats, maybe a 5 yarder. Might want to check if it has interfacing and if the pleats are cutout.

    Small print says otherwise....

"Tartan Tailor Kilts are made from a minimum of eight yards pure wool, completely hand sewn and hand pressed to produce a high quality tailored finish."

BUT remember the old saying..."If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't"

Caveat emptor is always good advice no matter who one does business with, but given that there is "one only gent's kilt," (this is different than "build a kilt") could it be that the kilt was rejected for some reason by another customer and that the vendor is trying to find a good home for it? I recently re-homed some perfectly good kilt hose at a considerable loss to myself, in part because I was targeting a very specific kind of buyer, one whose taste and size would accommodate them.

Trust, but verify. When making any deal, the parties involved should try to get as much information about the expected outcomes as possible and weigh the risks of doing business. Manage the risks and don't be a victim. Jaeson is checking references and has turned up none here. Could be a risk and probably needs to investigate further. It could be a scam or it could be legit. Is $239 worth it to find out? When do you stop chasing facts and follow instinct? When is it safe to cave into desire and curiosity?

    regimental master kilt maker
I'm not here to proffer any opinion on the company, but this caught my eye. Our local branch of The Scottish Lion had for a short time, a kilt-maker. The gentleman (a Scot) had been in the army and could, from cloth to wearing, hand-sew a 16oz kilt in 24 hours. Maybe, the low price from the business in question here is due to the quick nature of their 'regimental' kilt-maker?
