Talking What can go on the fly plaid?

I have a plain black kilt and have ordered a Clergy fly plaid to wear for
formal occasions with my PC jacket. Is it appropriate to have my
embroidered seminary seal sewn on the "fly" or "loose" end of the
    Plaid???

Since a plaid is not a liturgical vestment, I would say no. I would save the embroidered seal for a tippett/stole.

Now if you had a stole made from the clergy tartan, that would be different.

Todd has summed it up pretty neatly. I would add that you wouldn't embroider a clansman's badge (or any other devise) on your fly plaid, either.

Now, if you can get a brooch with your seminary seal that might work....

I agree, I wouldn't put anything embroidered on the fly plaid. BTW, you can get a fly plaid brooch with a clergy crest on it.

What is your denomination and seminary?

plaid brooches are meant to be worn on the shoulder, not high up on the chest.

I don't know about your seminary seal... but I was thinking about getting a patch from my dojo and sewing it onto my Amerikilt where a kilt pin would go.

You know, that's okay... ...where patches don't belong are sewn on to Prince Charlie coatees, fly plaids, and the like.

Uh oh... I better my PC fixed, then. There's this huge Iron Maiden back patch on it!

Just kidding. I am a little smarter than that... but not by much.

That's perhaps the best mental image I've had today. It's the cousin to the Tux/T-shirt. When you want to show your rebel side at your grandmother's 80th birthday, you need the Heavy Metal PC.

    I agree. Fantastic mental picture.

    Or motorcycle club colors......

I shouldn't repeat that. Some guys in my club might get the wrong (or right?) idea.
