Aboyne Highland Games Photos - Various
Greetings,
Below are several photos taken at the Aboyne Highland Games in Aberdeenshire, throughout the past few years. I especially like these photos, because they further demonstrate personal preferences for Highland attire, with some choices being very traditional, and others more contemporary - with personal flair. I am sure the rabble - myself included - could get many topics of discussion started with the photos presented. Enjoy.

Slainte,

Very nice photos, Kyle, and thanks for posting them. I noted several items that would bear discussion; certainly informative to see how it's done in Aberdeenshire.

Superb. The variation in Highland dress is astounding. Thanks for posting.

I am astounded that you are astounded Chris. Civilian Highland attire is not bound by military dress regulations and given that Clan tartans are multi patterned and sporrans, shoes, hose, bonnets, jackets etc are all of different ages and style and then when you add in individual choice and flair you get what you see in the super set of pictures above. Highland attire does not require us to be "peas in a pod" although they are all a variation on a theme.

I do like this particular style of loud coloured hose, but as for yellow, I prefer the mustard variant myself.

Yellow hose aside, is that a paisley waistcoat? I'm only an occasional visitor to this forum, but I don't recall anyone else wearing a paisley waistcoat. I admit that I wear a paisley long-tie sometimes with my kilts, but I hadn't thought of a paisley waistcoat! I like it!
