    It can't happen!

St Andrew's Day is about to dawn in Scotland and we have not had a new thread- nay we have not had a posting- in the month of November. May I suggest we revisit the ever popular topic of tartan jackets. I have unearthed two in my closet and am eyeing them for conversion. Since I only have one that matches my kilt, I expect the other one will either leave me or remain a trouser-cut jacket.

However, I do hope somebody will comment on the idea of a nice Black Watch sport coat being chopped and channeled into the top half of a kilt suit. While you are forming your opinion, would you please be so kind as to weigh in on whether it would be more honest to go ahead and make it a Black Watch evening jacket, or would there be just enough occasions to wear it in the daytime that it ought to retain daywear details ( e.g. no black satin lapels).

As always, your humble and obedient...

I found a gently used Black Watch sport coat...the only thing weird about it is the length...the jacket fits and the sleeves fit but the jacket is just a *tad* too long...just enough to look "not quite right". Have to think about whether it's worth having my tailor lady over on 103rd Street figure out a way to shorten it by maybe an inch/inch and a half....

Oh, I think YES, AA. I think yes indeed. I assume you have the BW kilt. If not, what better reason could you come up with than to match your new jacket? I am sure your lady can shorten it to a perfect kilt length...
