Prince of Wales kilt has arrived

Well, the new 6 yard 14 oz Prince of Wales tartan kilt arrived in record time from Scotland. I paid for it on Monday with my credit card and it arrived by Royal Post from across the Atlantic this afternoon! Admittedly it was an off-the-peg purchase but that is some seriously fast postal service.

I ordered the kilt, matching fly plaid, matching flashes and a leather sporran strap. As bonus gifts for being a good customer I received a thistle & sword kilt pin and a thistle plaid broach.

I tried it on immediately of course and it fits wonderfully. Of all the off-the-peg kilts I've tried or purchased or received as gifts, none seems to match the quality of these Melville Kilts.

If you haven't checked out the eBay store you should. I now buy directly to save them on the eBay fees, but they do prefer to have new customers first purchase through that store.

I'll be posting pictures soon but as far as I'm concerned you can't beat a kilt of that comfort and quality that comes with all that other stuff and costs less than $400 TOTAL to purchase and ship across the Atlantic.

Oh, and once again because it went via Royal Post & then USPS there wasn't a single bit of customs duties charged on the package.

I just found this pic on my hard drive. It's the promo pics the seller has on their eBay site but it'll at least give some idea of the kilt & extras.

Thats a fabulous Tartan Glassman. That tartan is the most popular one worn on Rugby match days here in Wales. You will see a few Welsh family and Dewi Sant Tartans but nothing as much as The Prince of Wales. Look forward to seeing your pictures. One thing I might suggest for you to ponder over .. why not buy yourself a nice Welsh Cilt Pin to go with it. There are several around in either gold or silver. Here is the one I have .. not great quality pic I'm afraid.

    That's a powerful tartan...very nice!

I'm not a fan of fly plaids though...

    Congrats Phil!

    Beautiful!

Well done on your new acquisition. You are definetly turning into a more dapper Cilt wearer! I know that is hard to believe from someone who always looked dapper.

I like that tartan. It's sort of a subdued flashy, if that makes any sense.
