Okay I have a question, not sure if it should go here or elsewhere. If this is the wrong place for it moderators please move it to the proper forum. I just recieved my copy of tunes of glory a great movie I must admit. I have watched it about 2-3 times already, now here is the question, what regiment and what tartan are they wearing? I don't know if it is my tv or the coloration of the dvd or just my ignorance but I can't figure this one out. Any and all help would be greatly apprieciated thank you.
There's a great deal of discussion on this in the kilts in the media forum... the upshot is that the tartan may have been created specifically for the film, and the regiment is not specifically any existing Scottish regiment. Here's the thread beware of naked breasts.

Here's the thread beware of naked breasts. Actually, the tartan wasn't created for the film, but there seems to be some consensus that one of the Scott tartans is the tartan in the movie. The author of the book, who also wrote the screenplay, James Kennaway served with the Camerons (specifically mentioned in the film as a distinct unit) and the Gordons, the latter whom he remembered who were always squabbling in the officer's mess. Parts of the film were shot at Stirling, the regimental HQ of the Argylls, so that regiment also pops up from time to time. The following article is a short bio of Kennaway: http://www.slainte.org.uk/CILIPS/pub...h/kennadsw.htm Regards, Todd
Thank you guys very much, so much to learn so little time.
