Forum being picked up as 18+ site
I use mobile broadband,a nd due to the nature of the internet they have content lock to stop access to content considered to be off age related material.
For some reason this forum gets blocked by t-mobile as an adult site.
and i dont understand why.
Normaly this would be to sites like national lottery, adult sites, gambling sites etc
But this site gets picked up.
Obviioulsy im over 18 but as im on pay as you go ive just not bothered to remove the content lock (but know how to get round it)
why is this site being blocked by t-mobile as an 18+ site.
No other kilt forum gets picked up.
I think this should be looked at, this site really should not be picked up by its filter.

At my former employer, sometimes it was linked advertiser content that triggered the content filters and resulted in a 'mature content' message being displayed. Is it possible that is what is happening to you?

Would the filter be picking up on some vocabulary used in certain posts?

I'm betting it's the "X" in X Marks that catches their eye.

It's because of the super-secret area of the forum where we keep the regimental, up-kilt nudie photos...

Re: Forum being picked up as 18+ site
OK I administer my network, and am familiar with the big 3 Verizon, AT&T and Sprint and don't know of any content filters. Is this a smaller provider? Do you know they are explicitly filtering content? What about your DNS server settings? (this is what translates yourwebsite.com to an IP address) any chance you are using DNS servers like OpenDNS that do content filtering? I would be pretty miffed if my ISP was filtering and that as the admin or account holder there was no access to the settings. Any chance you have addressed this with your provider and checked with them? Sometimes they will have a tool to "white list" URLs. I used to do International customer support and that was often an issue with foreign sites. Submitting URL for approval manually and then it would allow access. Your verbage is also interesting does it really say "18+" or does it more specifically indicate adult content, pornography or some such language?
NOTE: I realize in proof reading I was assuming you are in the US, please disregard information as appropriate if you are outside the US. No slight intended

I used to host my website through GoDaddy... Had my domain's e-mail routed through them as well. I had MASSIVE problems with that company... People couldn't see my site or send me e-mails... And anything I sent out wasn't received half the time either.
I phoned up cust. service and they told me that my incoming mail that I wasn't receiving was being caught by their SPAM filters... I told them that as much as I'd like to think that my mother-in-law's emails were junk mail, they WEREN'T exactly SPAM either. The rep told me that she would have to approach HER ISP and demand that THEY prove to the company that GD was using for filtering that they were a legitimate ISP... I told the rep to kindly shove their overly restrictive SPAM filter where the sun don't shine, as I did NOT want it. He told me "too bad" -- it's a universal filter that can't get taken off for individual accounts. At which point I told GoDaddy exactly what they could do with their "services" and the very next day I transferred ALL my domains and services out to a new provider.
Been with my new one for a little over two years now. Never been happier, never looked back.

Before my current position I worked email support for a company that did retention and archival for the financial industry. One of the big problems with GoDaddy is that they have a finite range of IP addresses (as does every other host), so if SpamKing decides to register with them it can lead to a range of IP addresses being blocked. If your domain happens to be one it is a pain. I do not know if it is still the same today but going back a few years ago there was a problem with reverse DNS lookups that could lead to blocks as well. So if I looked up cdnsushi.com it would point to a specific IP address look up the IP and it showed a host other than CDNSushi and some spam filters would immediately zap it. At work we use Postini and with a personal domain I host with Googles apps Postini is included which is nice.
