Site Sponsors
Would you guys have any problems if I tried to maybe get a few site sponsors? In fairness to all of our great Kilt Makers, I would not allow someone who makes kilts to be a sponsor. Maybe people who sell accessories though...
I am a web designer and it is what I do for a living. Any way to make a little money to keep this site maintained would go towards feeding my lovely wife and my spoiled-golden retriever/yellow lab.
Any thoughts folks?

As long as I don't get any popups or spam, I don't care. I lived off hotmail until MSN bought it and ruined the thing.

It would be relavant material and never in pop-up format. Most likely would be an ad in the upper corner that rotates with page refresh.

Works for me. I'm glad you do this service for us, so I feel that you deserve to make a buck or two from it.
I'm glad you mentioned that they wouldn't be pop-ups or skyscrapers. Those drive me nuts.
And please, nothing for erectile dysfunction or natural breast enhancement! I get enough of that in email and other web sites.

Canna let the dog go hungry, it wouldn't be right!
Thanks for asking, but it's your site. I have no objections.

Go for it. I wouldn't even squawk if the kiltmakers put ads in for new products.

If it helps you to maintain this forum (and the advertisements are for goods/services related to the subject of our common interest) then go for it, my friend.

I'm just curious why you wouldn't let someone who makes kilts be a sponsor. Would you see it as a conflict of iterests? You don't want to seem to show more support for one kind of kilt than the other?
It seems to me that having sponsors be kiltmakers would make sense. If we are here we are interested in kilts and would be more likely to go to sponsors sites if they were sites that sell kilts.
Or maybe you don't want this forum to come off as an internet infomercial for kilts... I could understand that.
Anyway, having sponsors is preferable to having a fee to be a member.

I will never charge a fee to be a member here. That just doesnt seem right.
I also dont want new people to come here and think that we are in support of one type of kilt over another (even though Bear and Jimmy seem to have a lot of support here!)
I figured if I didnt let kilt makers advertise then kilt makers who are not as popular wont feel like their posts are in competition with others. I dont want to scare off a small time kilt maker b/c he/she thinks that this market is sealed. Does that make sense?
I havent decided who I am going to target as sponsors but if and when I do I think everyone will be pleased with the outcome (I hope!)
PS- I also already have the Google Ads at the bottom of the page and I dont really have control over who they advertise since it is based on keywords, but that is also the reason they arent promenintly displayed.
