Xmarksthescot--An online forum for Kiltaholics?
I logged on this evening to find a new change just today, the above title where the usual general forums listing used to come up, and was instantly bothered by the addiction associated nature of its tone, almost suggesting that all of us members and contributors are somehow pathologically addicted to kilts and all things kilt related. I know we frequently joke about kiltaholics, and twelve step programs, etc..., but is that really the first impression we want to give new visitors and potential members, that we are a bunch of folks who need therapy for an uncontrollable mental illness related to kilt-wearing?
Just wondering if I am the only one out here who is bothered by this---maybe I am over reacting, I don't know. I guess your responses will determine the overall membership opinion.

Jeff,
I hadn't noticed it until your post. I really don't like it. I know it is an attempt to be light-hearted and humourous, but I, too, am concerned by what sort of message it sends to the first-time visitor.
Cheers,
Sandy

I did notice it when i got an email about a topic reply but i cant say i though about it like that. But then again its usualy me in trouble for not thinking about things and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time so im probaly not the best person to look to on the matter.
Mayb if Steve could let us know why he's changed it and his reasoning for the kiltaholic bit will help smooth everything over before any1 gets too upset.
Just my tuppence
The hielan' man he wears the kilt, even when it's snowin';
He kens na where the wind comes frae,
But he kens fine where its goin'.

I noticed it when I checked in today too, but it really doesn't bother me. I've always had a warped sense of humour and this just fits in with my views on life.

Hey, don't anybody get upset. It was only a temporary thing.
I have been working behind the scenes today on the layout of the forum and needed a placemark that I could find again.
So I stuck in a silly that would remind me where I made a change.
We're back to normal.
But if you think about it perhaps the term fits. I mean it was only there for about two hours, and if that many people actually noticed it..........

Normal?!? Never thought of that word as being associated here.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I noticed the change and was surprised, but mildly amused as well.

I like to think of us as "Kilt Enthusiasts."
Regards,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

I, for one, have never heard of "kiltahol." Is it really all that addictive?
