    3$ kilt hose!?!?

Yup, I found kilt hose for less than the price of a pint of beer

I had decided that grey hose would be ideal for going-with everything but not-matching anything. Finding hose to suit a student budget, however, is always a challenge. I picked these up from eBay seller joanieraisin. The link is for eBay Canada but she sells out of the UK and can be found on other eBay branches as well.

They are brand new, made in the UK by North of Saint Andrews, and the material is:
    46% wool
    46% acrylic
    7% nylon
    1% elastane

Not too thick but not see-through either. I bought size medium and they are long enough to roll the cuff over twice, thereby giving it a bit more heft. Time will tell how durable they are but I wear the kilt for special occasions, so they should last a while.

joanieraisin's stock seems to vary over time and I'm not sure if she always has hose or not. Depending on when you look, she might have grey, lovat blue, navy blue, black, and the dreaded white. Just now, I see she even has maroon! Sizes are currently child's large, adult medium, and adult large.

I won mine in an auction, but no-one else was bidding. Shipping came to $3.50 and the hose arrived in about 2 weeks. Worth looking into for those who would like some low-cost hose, though obviously not equivalent to hand knit woolies...

I was looking at those. How does the wool/acrylic feel? Is it soft or still a little scratchy like 100% wool?

They are soft with just a hint of scratchiness... the blend is close to 50/50, so you can tell there is wool but I'd say they are more soft than scratchy.

looks like a very good deal, and the fact there is some synthetic fibre is a good thing as it will help to maintain the hose wearing out too quickly

Currently she only has lovat blue and off-white. I may throw a bid on the lovat blue, so if I win I would just HAVE to buy a kilt they would go with.

Interesting... looks like her store is a little different depending on which eBay portal you access. Her UK store has more colour options than the Canada store... but the UK store only ships certain items outside the UK...

...and when I followed your link, it led me to the Canadian ebay, and when I signed in, it converted the currencies for me, then when I signed out, it reverted to ebay.ca

I bid on the blue hose, so the rest of you, don't outbid me.

Despite the cat being out of the bag, I hope you win at your starting bid!

Great find! I'm eyeballing some crimson hose on the UK page and I'd snatch those Lovat Blue ones up, but they're going to be a little too big for me. I'm very tempted by the Guiness Cufflinks...I'm just not sure I would ever use them. I'm going to have to start snooping around the "other" ebay sites as the US one has very little kilt stuff. Most of what I find there are knock-off kilts and white hose which look like tube socks in a different package. I have found a few deals though, but it's a needle in a haystack search.

    Thanks for the heads up.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.
