To Accompany an Isle of Skye kilt:
What colour accessories do you think look best with an Isle of Skye kilt, being worn to a semi-formal/formal (i.e. 3-pc suit & tie equivalent) event?
A) hose
B) necktie
C) flashes
Any pictures of EITHER the full ensemble being worn, OR individual accessories by themselves would be grand!
Sub-question: if one does not have specific IoS flashes, are any other flashes acceptable? Or is it best in that case just to go without?

I think your green hose looked great, although the tie was a little off for the rest of the outfit. I'd go for a purple or green tie that matches the kilt. I think purple flashes would look great in the green hose, too.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

lol. The other thread notwithstanding, I wanted to separate the two -- as I'm genuinely curious about some various options for what accessories are appropriate with an IoS. The aforementioned thread is for a specific function (i.e. a Japanese college grad ceremony) whereas here, even though I'm after a semi-format/formal look, my aim is more broad in function. There have been a few threads about IoS and HOSE colour specifically, but I can't seem to recall any discussion of neckties or flashes... Plus a couple of photos of Xmarkers attired formally (rather than casually) in IoS exemplifying the 3 accessories I've mentioned would be nice, and very helpful.

Here is me (with my kilted then-infant son) at an evening event in Edinburgh Castle nearly two years ago, wearing my IOS tank with my black Argyll, purple cravat tie over a white shirt, tartan flashes and purple hose, and my black Balmoral, with dress sporran. Navy and lovat green also look good as solids with the IoS for hose and ties.

I also now have purple tweed handknit hose, triced purple/lovat/tan hose, and natural hose with large thistles in the turnover tops to wear with this outfit, as well as solid hose in tan, stone, lovat and Navy, and navy and lovat ties to match.
Sorry but I don't rent out the kid.

I love all the pics with purple hose, I thought that I was the only one who loved purple hose so much!
To respond to the subject of the thread, I think that purple hose and matching tie with a black or grey jacket (and maybe waistcoat) would look amazing. For flashes, you can go with the tartan flashes, but I really like the traditional garter ties, just pick out another color from the tartan, and you're set!

No pics, but I often wear the Ancient Scot argyl top hose from Hawick, with same colored flashes, dark plum shirt, charcoal waistcoat, and dark charcoal tie with a plum stripe in it I have.

Donny Osmond always wore purple socks on the 70' TV show!

Maybe that explains my color choice.
