bizarre pelt+sporran on Ebay
Strange sporrans show up on Ebay, sporrans that started out life as normal sporrans but were modified by previous owners. Currently there's a WWI horsehair military sporran that's been hacked to half its original length, a couple civilian sporrans that have had military badges added, and now this!

First, it's not "by" the Scottish Shopper Corporation, but sold by them. They were a retailer in Seattle Washington.
As you can see it's an ordinary leather Day Dress sporran that has had a flap of rough leather stuck on the front, and an animal head stuck on the top.
I'm guessing that this was done by the owner for a Renaissance Faire or stage use or some such.
The price of course is ludicrous. The sporran would have cost under $50 back in the 1970s when it was sold.

I bet the fox head and fur are re-serviced from a old ladies stole. I remember my Grandmother had one that fascinated me as a child. The foxes mouth was fitted with a spring loaded clasp that closed onto the tail when wrapped around her neck. It was also great for terrorizing my little brother

Not sure which is more frightening, the unrealistic expectations the regarding price or the sporran itself!

Funniest looking seal I’ve ever seen, even funnier than the price point.
No Sale!

No doubt! I have a very similar vintage, day sporran (with no added pelt business) which I bought for 35 dollars a year, or so, ago.

It was a very good deal. I found it on Etsy. I don’t think the seller really knew what to make of it.
I’d been searching a long time for a brown sporran specifically with those knotted, braided tassels, and, when I saw one for $35, I jumped on it.

Etsy... wow, you're only the second other person I know, other than myself who's used that site.

I peruse Etsy a lot, but I think I’ve only bought three items from the site: the sporran, some cloth tuxedo buttons to convert a mess jacket into a formal jacket for kilt attire, and...I’ve completely forgotten the third item!
