    Clan Crest Shirts

Well, the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop is now proud to offer a line of golf/polo style shirts with your clan crest embroidered on the breast in full color.

    http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/crest_shirts.html

The details: The shirts are 100% cotton, very good quality golf shirts. We are purchasing them from a North Carolina company that we've been working with to start their first line of Scottish shirts. We have about ten of the most common names in stock in sizes S-XL right now in black, and we have an order coming for what we would consider "second tier" names so we can have those in stock as well. Any of the names on the list can be ordered, however.

We also can order colors other than black. Right now the web site is just set up for black because that's what we have in stock. If you want to order a different color just give us a call or email (we can get white, and most of your common shirt colors. I'm still working with our supplier to get all the details worked out). You big guys notice that we can get sizes up to 5XL for you!

I'm excited about this line, both because we were able to procure the product locally and support a NC owned business, but also because they have done such a good job on the heraldic artwork. The crest is a big larger than you normally see on this style shirt, which allows for much greater detail and clarity in the crest.

So this is just to let you guys know about the new line - any questions, just holler!

OK, so what is considered 1st and 2nd tier? I'll take any one with SOLA VIRTUS NOBILITAT emboidered on there. What are the chances of that being in a stock line?

I'm definitely going to have to have one of these. No doubt.

I suspect Marjoribanks is a "second tier" name but I don't care. At least you list the name! Order has been placed - thanks!

Just ordered the Stewart I think it will go great with my Black Stewart Semi Traditional from USA Kilts. The crest looks really nice, I will post picks and a review as soon as it arrives.

Ok, I'm home now, so going from memory, this is what I know we have in stock now...
Anderson, Armstrong, Bruce, Buchanan, Campbell, Gordon, MacDonald, MacGregor, MacQuarrie, Stewart, and Wallace.

Ok, so that's eleven. I may be remembering one or two wrong. And as to what's coming in the "second tier" I can't tell you specifically right now 'cause I don't know off the top of my head! We sent our shirt guy a list of what we consider the more common clans, and told him to work on that artwork next. So if your clan is something like Cameron or Fraser or Henderso or MacFarlane, Robertson, etc., it's probably going to be in that second tier. If it's one like Arbuthnott, Charteris, Gayre, Oliphant, or Swinton, we don't plan on stocking those names. :-)

BUT the good news is that my shirt guy has the artwork for all of the listed names available and has agreed to do single orders for me. So if you want to order Marjoribanks, go ahead! Just be advised that if it is a more "unusual" name it will take longer for shipping.

I will say that the Stewart shirts that we have in stock right now have the Stuart of Bute crest on them (though the name on the shirt is spelled "Stewart.") This was a mistake, and we are having some more shirts (to be delivered this weekend, I am told) with the proper Stewart of Galloway crest (the Pelican in her Piety).

So, McMurdo, send me an email at tartans@scottishtartans.org and let me know which Stewart you'd prefer.

Also, just so people can be advised, this is a new line which means our embroiderer is still working on the artwork for all these crests. Like I said, he's working his way through a list of commonly requested names we gave him now. So for the first little while, until he gets all the artwork for each crest done, there may be a bit of extra wait time to get the shirt in for the first person to order a particular crest.

Once that art is completed, though, we should be able to get these shirts out in a fairly timely fashion even if we don't have your particular crest or size in stock at the time.

The time consuming part is the creation of the initial artwork. So if yours is the first order for a particular crest, just be aware of this....

Hey Matt, no issue here. I am not actually expecting to wear it until I get back from India.
