    Costum Sgian Dubh

I have unsuccessfully tried searching for a knife maker to create a Sgian Dubh. Do any of you know of such a business?

As a Marine I have the idea that a miniature Ka-Bar would make one H**L of a Sgin Dubh.

I recall reading discussions on a mini ka-bar being used, but I don't remember if it worked out.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Try this link for a discussion about a custom-made sgian dubh in the form of a ka-bar:

Maybe Ron can provide more specifics via PM.

    Cordially,

If I remember correctly, Riverkilt's mini Ka-Bar is a letter opener made of aluminum. Not a functional steel knife.

They do make a mini Ka-Bar.

...that's just a listing from the first site to come up...no endorsement of the merchant. Still a little bit big for a sock-knife, though...probably a bit on the heavy side as well.

    I've had two made...

I've had two custom sgians made to date, and have my eye on another maker...

You can see the first one I had made, a very utilitarian knife suitable for field use, here: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/m...x.html?t=41851

I recently acquired another sleeker sgian which is reviewed here: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/d...x.html?t=55158

I'm looking forward to getting something like this next: http://www.angelfire.com/my/wisecust.../4Gallery.html (scroll to bottom of the page)

Also, be aware that there are a number of bladesmiths on this forum as well.
