A different kind of hair sporran?
There have been several threads on hair sporrans lately and I've been thinking a lot about them (WPG recently started carrying reproduction regimental hair sporrans for $175, BTW).
Our clan tent at Stone Mt. was next to the Highland Cows pen, and I got to thinking - why do we never (or rarely, if ever) see a sporran that features the hide of this long-haired Scottish icon?
Does anyone know of or have pix of hielan coo sporrans?
I'm interested in folks opinions as to whether it would be somehow sacrilegeous or what. The animals are raised for beef anyway, so the hides come off. Where do they go?

Where 4 Scotsmen gather there'll usually be a fifth.

After touching the hide, I think it would make a fabulous sporran. However, not so good as a mask sporran
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

It is my understanding that the hair from these cows has never found a good use. That is a little unusal, given that so many animal hair-on skins are used so many ways. One would think that if these cows' hairs were useful, then somebody over the centuries would have found good use for it. Some hairs are exceedingly brittle.

I think one of the reasons that the hair of highland cattle hasn't been used for a sporran is its colour, which seems to be the same colour as most toupees one sees on the number 47 bus moving through Edinburgh traffic...

I did see one fella wearing a pair of boots made from the hide at the games, he was working around the live display near the Gordon tent on Saturday. I thought it very strange!

I have one coming from my wife as a Christmas present, so I can't post a pic until late December! It's more of a tan/blonde color than the orange-red associated with hieland coos....
