That's not a sporran, but a pouch worn over the shoulder.. I like the knife placement on it too..
The flat horn is beautiful. I think I would like to get one myself one day, when I get my Longhunter/ Mohawk gear together.
which gets me to thinking, the Iroquois used to wear a "kilt" of black hide... I wonder if it's from the Highlanders they may have fought along side.

    oh

Looked like a sporran, the design is close. Appy polly loggy.

A sporran with a sheath on the backside would be a sure buy in my opinion.

Beautiful dirk! He should have left the metal straps off of the ballock-type haunches, though. That was a later development, and this is a ca. 1680 dirk (the original with "Fear God and Do Not Kil" on the blade back is dated to that year)....

Yeah but picture where it would be riding.... LOL a tad bit uncomfortable. They are very similar in style, that's for sure but they are a bit bigger....

I've actually seen and handled the horn by Mark Thomas - and lusted after it as well - but it is well outside my price range. As of April it was still for sale.

The Iroquois and many other Eastern Woodlands tribes wore a version of the kilt. When the Scots came over they were often viewed as long lost brothers by the tribes and indeed in many cases there were many similarities between the American Natives and the Highland Scots,
