Finally, A Kilt Pin I'll Actually Wear!!

While I've always liked the look of kilt pins, I've never liked wearing them. Not so much because they might snag on something, though that is a source of concern in some environments; but mainly because of the type of pin usually used to secure it to the fabric. which tends to split/tear fibers in the wool and/or leave permanent holes in the fabric.

A Scottish Baron who is a fellow member of the Saint Andrew's Society of San Francisco recently gave me one of the Society's newly commissioned kilt pins, and I was delighted to see that it has two posts on the back instead of a single long and too-thin pin. Two minutes with coarse and fine sharpening stones and I now had posts with broad blunted smooth "points" which simply push the fibers aside and, when withdrawn, leave no trace of a hole in the fabric.

It's not exactly a small pin; but I think it's very classy, and it's one I'll wear a lot!

that's a nice looking pin. I've never seen a specific kilt pin like that. My pentagram that I sometimes wear has two sharp spikes but then its technically a Lapel badge ( I think)

I like that pin, and I like the idea of the two posts instead of the long pin. It would be nice if all kilt pins were made that way.

It's not exactly a small pin...

It checks in at a full ounce (28 grams). Looks good on your kilt.

Nicely proportioned and I love the relief. The method of attachment is a definite improvement over a stock pin.
