Flashes for your hose
Are hose necessary to wear with a kilt?
I wear my sandals on occasion when I'm golfing is that okay?
What about flashes? I know the historical reason for them but are they still a "must have" when wearing socks/hose?

I wouldn't say they are necessary. I may wear hose or hiking/boot socks depending on what I'm doing.
Sandals are pretty nice during the summer.
I usually use garter ties for comfort if I wear anything at all. Some of my hose stays up really well without help so I'll skip it for them.
YMMV
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Sandals with golf? Does that work?

When given a choice, most people will choose.

Garters/Flashes were necessary back when kilt hose wouldn't stay up on their own. Now, for the most part, they're decorative. Wear them if you like they way they look. I think they add a nice touch to THCD.
Cordially,

I guess I should have mentioned they are golf sandals.

I wear my regular sandals during the summer and they don't look any different from my golf ones.

I like flashes. To be more specific, I like matching tartan flashes. To some around here that is as bad as wearing white hose (which I do not/would not wear). Do as you please, and don't worry about what others think.

All I have are matching flashes. Black for my black kilt, Blackwatch for my Blackwatch kilts. Oh, I only own cream colored hose, not quit white but close.

I personally don't have any issue with white hose. I don't own a pair, and probably will never own a pair, but see nothing wrong with them. It just seems to be a running joke here against them.
