Handspun Aran to wear with the kilt
I've finally gotten around to spinning and knitting an Aran sweater for Tommy (now my DH) and thought I would let you all have a peek at how it's coming along. I've been promising him this sweater for ages, so now that the "boyfriend curse" has been taken care of he's getting his Aran sweater, hopefully for the SMHG in October! I'll also be knitting a matching pair of kilt hose...all handspun yarn.

I'd like to see that sweater. I plan to do the same thing with some llama wool I have. I might have to steal your designs!

That's very nice-looking piece of work. Moss stitch, wheat-ear cables, hourglass stripes and a mock cable? It looks like you stole my ideas before I could steal them from you!

Those are the patterns they used! I had thought about changing the Hourglass to another pattern, but could not find one to fit my purposes, so I kept it. Fortunately, I like it well enough. Front and back of this is knit the same so it's very easy to learn the sequence. I hope to get a cardi knit for myself one day so that I can have a nice Aran too!
Where do you find your patterns? I have a few books that I use for patterns when I knit a pair kilt hose-some stitch dictionaries and such. It's always interesting to learn where other people get their inspiration!

Looks good so far, Tommy is a lucky man, please post the progress and the hose when you start them.
