How Do YOU Stow Your Money In Your Sporran?

That's of course if you DO carry it in your sporran. I'm just wondering how many ways people have come up with to handle this.

Obviously, you want to be able to find it quickly when you start digging around, so it should be somehow segregated from other items. My approach for many years was to use two leather drawstring pouches, one for coin and the other (different color) for bills plus a credit card and driver's license.

Recently, it occurred to me to try a Taxi Wallet for this purpose. I've been intrigued by the design for years, and suddenly realized I had the perfect excuse to get one, so I did. And I love it! I now can carry all the same stuff mentioned above in a single compact little wallet (with a very sporran-friendly shape) taking up less space than the aforementioned pair of leather pouches, and with much greater ease of access.

So, how 'bout the rest of you? How do you do it?

Normally, I just drop my entire wallet in there. No difference then when needing it--i just grab it out and business as usual.

Sometimes, I have tried a money clip with a credit card and driver license.

In either case, change just gets tossed in and collects at the bottom. I don't usually even try to grab change after that. It becomes too difficult to get the change out from the bottom. I like the idea of a small change bag inside.

I usually have a business card holder (one of those slim ones) which I use to carry the necessary credit cards, drivers license etc and for loose change and bills I've actually been using an old pouch that came with a pair of sunglasses I bought ages ago. Pretty much the same setup as you've been using yourself.. Works fine and they are both quite easy to find in the sporran even after a few pints..

I put bills and any cards I need in a Gerber EAB I use as a money clip, and coins go in a spiral-fold coin purse. Everything stays compact and easy to find and then gets transferred back to pockets when I switch to trousers.

A few years ago, I was at the Chicago Celticfest where the Province of Nova Scotia had a wonderful booth. Among the MANY goodies they provided was a slim moneycarryer intended for kilt use. Very handy.

As I recall, somebody (Auld Argonian?) posted a photo of it at that time.

I also let the change fall to the bottom and don't bother with it til it's time to empty out the sporran. Or I give it to my wife. She loves giving exact change whenever she can.

Coins loose in the sporran, notes in the top of the hose, if not wearing a jacket. Start the day with notes and worry about the change when you get home.

I've always stuck the whole wallet in there and use one of those squeeze-it-to-open change purses.

My time travelling in Scotland, England, and France over the last couple years taught me that there is a lot more coin usage in the UK and EU in general than in the US (one and two pound or Euro coins instead of bills), and I use a small zipper closing change purse with a pair of pockets on either side that can hold bills and credit cards, ID, hotel room keycards, etc... all in one place. Fits nicely in the sporran (or in my case small belt pouch) and keeps all the essential together in one small package no bigger than a wallet and probably smaller than most. The hard part with a sporran is keeping the small purse on top if you are in and out of your sporran frequently for other things like cell phones, keys, etc... That is why I generally carry a small belt pouch with the most frequently used items there and other "stuff" in the sporran where it is slightly less accessible.

I keep mine in an old cigarette case similar to the following picture. The case fits nicely in a sporran and even has an elastic band inside which keeps money and credit cards from flying out when opened.
