If I had a million dollars...
http://www.powning.com/jake/commish/dirks.shtml
Stumbled into this guy's website. He makes commissioned dirks, swords, etc. Beautiful, but if you go and look the two available for sale average about $7,000. A dirk wouldn't run that high, but you'd certainly have to consider whether your kids really need braces.

The Real Deal...
Man! That stuff is AWESOME! If I were the type to wear such with my kit, these would be the penultimate blades of choice. Wow. Some artisan work, for true- none o' that "Made in China" or Pakistani rip-off crap... It's refreshing to see that there are still folk around who do such work.
Thanks for the look-see! That made my day.

Very nice. The birch handled dirk with the bronze fittings caught my eye.
Thanks for posting the link.

I might be able to afford one of his shirts...
What I would lease for a year (or two) if I had $1M. BTW, can we make that £1M?

I was looking at some of the project pictures he has posted on the sight. It looks like he is usually some kind of plastic or silicon parts. I'm wondering if those are used to make a mold, then the mold used to make the bronze parts for the final piece. Or does he just bronze coat the plastic bits he's carved?
Secondly, I'm incredibly envious not only of the finished piece, but of the process. It seems like it would be incredibly satisfying to work weeks and weeks on a project and watch your sketches come to life in steel and wood.
