Joe Gondek Sporran - a review
I am the proud new owner of another Joe Gondek quality sporran.
Below you see some photos, but they really don’t do this fine sporran justice. Joe made it in a very soft, yet durable and supple leather and he placed a couple of custom items inside. He made a pocket for my zippo and a pen and a key holder too. As you can see from my beefy hand inside it's very large and usable. The button and end pieces are antler and the draw-strings are braided leather. Very functional.
It is a sporran made on the pattern as printed in the late J. Charles Thompson’s book – “So You’re Going To Wear The Kilt” Mr. Thompson really knew his stuff when he made this design, and Joe has taken it up to the next level. This sporran quickly became a rival for my leather nightstalker and I’m sure I will prize this sporran for years to come.
Joe's handywork is superb, the hand stitching is even and tight, the leather chosen is nice to use and I could not ask for a better day-wear sporran.
If anyone wants a truly quality sporran, give Joe a PM. I’m sure that you will be satisfied.
Thanks Joe!

My whole hand can fit inside.

Custom mounts for pen, zippo and keys.

All-in-all a very nice sporran!

Sounds great. Hmmm, braided drawstring...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Ted - I really wish you could see this sporran - It's a thing of beauty. But it isn't only nice to look at - the leather is so soft, and it still has that nice, new tanned, leather smell!

Jay, you have a real beauty of a sporran there.
Congratulations!

Very nice. Question - does anybody know where to get braided leather like that for draw strings, or did Joe do it himself?
