Kilt pins
Has anyone got any good sources (besides ebay) for kilt pins a bit different from the usual sword shaped ones?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Kilt pins
You can find some little treasures at your local thriftstores.
I did.

Re: Kilt pins
I have found quite a few non sword ones on ebay where they tend to be much cheaper. I only have one sword in my collection of around seven.

Re: Kilt pins
I'm on my phone and not sure how to link or get pics posted, but if you go to www.scotsconnection.com, they have a few contemporary pewter pins that are pretty sharp and reasonably priced. I have one and have gotten many compliments on it. If you want to pay a couple hundred dollars, you could get one in sterling silver!

Have a look at Wallis Hunter. They are solid silver and very expensive but they have a great range, including "Bruce's Axe with Thistles"

Re: Kilt pins
I usually do not wear kilt pins anymore, but when I do, it's a 4" hallmarked silver 'blanket' style kilt pin from Kinloch-Anderson - you could try them. I have seen lovely vintage grouse claw kilt pins too, which were popular during the Victorian-era. For men who are armigerous, a superb idea is to have their crest made into a (silver) kilt pin - not a complete circlet (badge), but just the crest alone - which could also be affixed to a sporran cantle, this looks rather smart on a 'Prince Charlie' style cantle.
Good luck!

Re: Kilt pins
When hunting on ebay look for brooches instead of kilt pins.

Re: Kilt pins
Here's a pic of the one I made, and I've seen some even better looking homemade ones from the other rabble. Don't be afraid to make your own. You're the only one who has to like it!
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.
