L&M Sporran - A Brief Review
I thought I would write up my recent experience with a custom made L&M sporran.....
This company prides itself on craftsmanship and quality, but I gotta tell ya, the sporran I just received - a model msf-1026 made from clipped calfskin (to satisfy US export requirements), is no better overall in workmanship than some $60 sporrans that I have returned for similar overall problems....
At first I thought I was being too picky, but then my wife saw it and said "You know honey, the cantle and the leather under it are really crooked - that doesn't look very good" So, it isn't just me.
Overall, for this experience, I have to say that I feel very, very ripped off by L&M - this thing is no better than the cheap **** sporrans I have seen on eBay...
I have contacted the manager, and am waiting to hear from her.....
Their homepage says "Quality service and quality products that you can trust".... So much for the quality products, lets see about the service.....

Bummer . Let us know if/when the manager get's it sorted out. You compared it to $60 sporrans. If you don't mind: what was your cost for this one?

L&M has asked me to ship it back so they can repair the cantle and other issues.
Overall, that was pretty smooth.
I may have been overly harsh on them at first, because it was different than what I had pictured, and the crooked cantle was something I had seen time and time again in 'cheap' sporrans.
An expensive lesson for buying sight unseen (I won't be doing that again)...

Sad, hope things work out.
I'd thought L&M only sold through dealers...?
They have a beautiful website http://www.landmhighland.com/
But, like most sporran dealers, even though they give minute detail about each sporran they totally leave out any clue as to the sporran measurements, dimensions, size.
Just don't understand their logic in holding back such very basic information.
Wonder if, when you get the sporran back you could give us the dimensions of it.?
Thanks,

Well.....
To update the story..
I talked to Peggie McLean, the owner/manager of L&M today on the phone. Such a nice person.
She had contacted me to say that they had received my sporran, and that she also was unhappy with how it had turned out.
So, long story short, they are going to completely remake a sporran for me....
That is great service, above and beyond.....
Yes, they only sell through retailers, but as this was a custom item, they wanted to interact with me directly to rectify the problem.
At this point in time, with this kind of service and attention, I would be happy to buy an L&M product again.

I used to work in retail and based on your interaction with L&M on this customer service issue I would not hesitate to purchase any of their products. Working in a department store it was very frustrating trying to get the manufacturers to cover their guarentees and warenties and I had many an unhappy customer (and I was just a clerk but I still tried to make the customer happy). The type of customer service that L&M has shown to you is outstanding and very rare in todays manufacturing world.
