I got this vintage St. Justin's brooch for a steal from eBay. It was obvious the seller had never heard of St. Justin's Pewter, since they interpreted the imprint on the back as "Sustin J". So I almost feel guilty about how little I paid for it...almost.
The style is similar to that of a number of belt buckles I've seen made by Don McKee, for example his Robert The Bruce buckle (note the border having alternating thistles and St Andrews Cross flags)
In any case, here are the two plaid brooches I have to hand:
L) civilian plaid brooch, solid German Silver, c1930
R) Black Watch (3 SCOTS) plaid brooch
A similar Black Watch brooch in situ
BTW this is the first time I've come across the term "fly plaid brooch". To me a plaid brooch is a plaid brooch, good for any sort of plaid.

Yes, the one I posted is a Don McKee cast in 1990. I have a belt buckle and a kilt pin from his collections as well. Love his work.
