It lives!!!
There I was, no sh*t, walking the Minnesota Irish Fair when I walk into the Stillwater Kilts booth.
Jerry finishes selling a handful of Irish national and saffron kilts to a family. We shake hands and the he gives me a quick wink. "What do you think?", he then hands me a black leather sporran. I accecpt it thinking, "ok... another sporran." But wait!
This is a "Nightstalker"! In supple black leather!
My jaw drops a wee bit.
We then talk about the final stages of the roll out. Offered will be both brown and black. A production facility has been found that will meet his QC requirements.
I was not able to pin him down on a release date. Every time I approached it, I would simply see a satisified smile and hear "Check the website".
He further stated the price would be near the $50.00 point if all went well.
My impressions:
If you own a Nightstalker in nylon, you will see there is no difference save the
material used. I was, to be sure, looking at a pre-production prototype. What I saw I liked. Decent quality, soft leather in the gusset. Blemish free face leather, no tonal shifts in the piecing, even stitching.
The layout was a near exact copy of the nylon version. (I was wearing a nylon Nightstalker and had the chance to compare directly.)
On a seperate note;
We have come to expect a high level of customer service for SWK.
Some of you will remember the tale of the rotwieler attacking my Nightstalker sporran in a misguided attempt to save my dangly bits from that three tassled devil.
A 3/4" section of stitching as let go after being "rot-shaken".
I told Jerry the story and showed him the (in my mind,) very minor damage.
The first words out of his mouth were, "Are you coming again tomorrow? I'll replace it."
I was flabbergasted!
This man was more than willing to replace an item that had not failed under ordinary usage, but after an attack by a rather burly, and agressive canine.
(Zeus really is my buddy... he was having a bad day(leg injury) and I woke him up... he responded rather better than I do on a wake-up)
I passed on the offer.. after all, my sporran now had it's own karma.
I Did it!
I thread-jacked my own thread in the opening post!

Jerry is good people!
Now if we could just get him to come out with the Stillwater tent to a Highland Game in Sunny California...
Cheers

...breathless anticipation!
You didn't by any chance notice if there were any new tartans in the wool heavyweights?
And that dog-torn sporran would make a great ad..."takes a chewing and keeps on going..."

In a recent exchange with Jerry about an order of mine. Not a problem, just a clarification.
I asked him when and if we were going to see a leather nightstalker sporran.
He sent back a picture and said - "Like this?"
When I asked when, he also said - "Check the website!"
I think it will be very soon. I wish he would allow us to pre-order! I'm going out of the country in a week for about two weeks and I don't want to miss out.
I want one!!!!!!!!!!
