    Question Looking for boots...

Okay, I may be blasted for this one, but here goes:

I've become rather partial to my Utilikilts. They are more than practical for my daily use. The normal tartan kilts just require too much care for my normal day to day activity, plus I know, just KNOW I would stain them in an instant.

Not to say I won't wear my tartan kilts, I do. More so for more dressy occasions.

But the problem is this: I have no decent boots to wear with a UK. I love the look of the brown boots they have on their website, but I don't have that kind of cash (that my wife will let me spend on boots, anyways...).

Anyone know where I can find an awesome looking pair of boots like that at a decent price that won't fall apart on me after only a few months?

I may be opening a can of worms here... but there it is...

It depends what style of boot you are looking for...biker, hiker, military...ect

I wear a pair of brown leather 6" Timberland Euro Hikers. If you search you'll find a good price somewhere. They have lasted me over 10 years and I have worked them hard, hiking and camping as well as daily wear. The last 6 months the leather started to separate and the sole had worn slick. Thank the Lord, they still make the same boots today. Apparently one of their more popular styles. Hands down the best boot I have ever owned.

I haven't pinpointed exactly what style to go with, but I do know that I haven't seen a whole lot that I've fallen in love with. And I don't want to spend money on something I haven't completely fallen in love with lol.

I generally find boots with laces under US$100 last less than one year, in the $150-200 price range I reasonably expect 3-5 years. Just saying, I do wear lace up boots, gosh, a couple hours a day most days.

I LOVE my Ariat boots! They are light. I mean, light. If you are used to tired feet after dragging around some thick-soled brogans all day long, I highly recommend these boots as the remedy. Mine are three years old and look brand new (after a polish).

My primary boot is a Harley Davidson boot I got from Sears a few years back. Apparently they still sell it. I don't remember the cost. Sometimes Sears puts boots on sale so you may luck out and get a better price. Otherwise I would assume this would be an expensive boot. More then what I paid a few years back. Recently I tried to find a Doc Martin 1460 boot but no luck. No one had them in stock and was not sure when they would come in. I wanted a pair in brown.

I have been wearing a nice 8" tactical size-zip boot for awhile, and am switching to a 9" leather lace-up from Red Wing.

Mike - those are awesome. I definitely like those. I'm looking for something like that in a brown combo. I like the straps, and zippers would be a bonus. I've browsed through countless catalogues online and haven't seen anything short of the boots Utilikilts sells on their website... I'm a clunky boot kinda guy, so weight doesn't much matter.

    The search continues...

    P.S.

    Mike, I love the kilt.

    Corcoran all the way!

Honestly, as far as the best combination of durability, comfort, and good looks....... Corcoran all the way!! I wear my 10" field boots (also known as corcoran IIs in the army) almost daily. They clean up easily, shine up nicely, take all the abuse i can throw at em and just ask for more. And when i say abuse i'm not kidding, I work for my city parks department so i never know if im going to be wading in the creek that runs through our biggest park, running a weedeater all day, digging a trench to fix an irrigation line or who knows what else. At the end of the day i just hose em off, and maybe take one of the stiffer brooms in the shop to em. If i need to go somewhere nice, i take a bit of polish, an old rag, and 5 minutes later they are shiny as he11.
