My Freelander
I promised Freelander I would write something about my first event with the new sporran, and now I finally have a few minutes to collect my thoughts.
Without a doubt, my freelander is the best sporran I have owned in my over ten years of wearing a kilt, period. It's just as everyone else who owns one says, the Freelander is very roomy -- so roomy in fact if you're not careful, you might overload it. With my old sporran, I had to "shrink down" what I was carrying -- no wallet, only ID and credit card, one or two keys, and little else. With my new Freelander, I was able to carry keys, wallet and my inhalor (I'm asthmatic), and my "worry stone" as well -- no doubt it would hold my flask as well, but that might be too much!
The construction of the Freelander is sound -- it really is "old world craftsmanship", and everyone who saw it for the first time commented on how "sturdy" it looked, yet were amazed at how soft the leather was -- my old day sporran had cardboard for a stiffner!
And, it's as Jimmy says -- the "clicking" of the antler buttons takes getting used to, but it is much better than the "thump, thump" of leather tassels on the front of a sporran.
I love the draw-strings and it is a snap to open when you need something quickly.
Bottom line: I heartly recommend a Freelander sporran. Not only is sturdy & well built, it is also pleasing to the eye and makes quite the statement with the kilt!
"Now, if I can just talk my wife into another one", he says, going away & shaking his head...
Every kilted lad should have a Freelander!

Since The Arrival o my Freelander, I have only worn my other Black Tasseled Sporan once. It was because the Freelander was on loan to Bear Kilts during the Vancouver Celtic Festival.

Should he watch his back because of the weight of the sporran?
Or, is it because he has so much stuff that someone might mug him?

my back...
It is tempting to "overload", but I'll try to watch my back -- and look-out for muggers!

Thats a good point Bear maybe all Freelander owners will have to watch their backs....in more ways than one.

My freelander arrived today! Wonderful workmanship. I had it delivered to work, just so they wouldn't try to jam it into my mailbox at home (appartment) and I had all of my co-workers wondering why I was getting mail from Norway!
Thanks again, and any fence sitters wondering if they should order, I offer a completely unqualified reccomendation.

Thats really great news George. We are glad you like it.
Tell your co-workers that they too can get mail from Norway
Be careful now or you'll be using all your day to fondle that soft leather.

Thanks for the review. I'm looking into getting a nicer sporran, and a Freelander is definately on my list of one I'm considering.
